After cracking open a can your senses will be bombarded with a delightful myriad of citrus and tropical fruit aromas — think bright orange, ripe mango, pink grapefruit, lychee, lime, and gooseberry.

Poured into a glass this hazy brew resembles OJ topped with a fluffy white head of foam. The mouthfeel is soft with a medium body and the bitterness is restrained to let the intense hop flavors and aromas take center stage.

It’s-A Me is a delicious, hazy, double dry hopped IPA fermented with a special, fruit-forward omega-yeast strain called Sundew.

Sundew is an exciting, new, genetically modified yeast strain that was developed to emphasize the desirable notes in modern fruity hops.

This was accomplished by targeting a parental yeast strain of Belgian origin known for cranking out fruit-forward esters (think ripe stone fruits, passion fruit, pear, strawberry) and then splicing out the gene responsible for producing the spicy, phenolic notes often characteristic of classic Belgian styles.

In other words, it delivers all of the juicy, ripe, fruit flavors you want in a hazy IPA without the clove and Belgian spice character.

Riffing with the fruit forward flavor profile, we hopped this beer with Strata in the whirlpool and then hit it with a double dose of dry hopping during active fermentation with Motueka & Cryo Pop.

We get notes of tropical passion fruit, juicy strawberry, ripe peaches, sweet pear, nectarines, key lime, soft melon, and freshly squeezed OJ.
